Sixteen Honest Answers About Aerotermia

Changing how your home is heated is a bigger decision than swapping one gas boiler for another — and most people arrive with the same healthy doubts.

These are the questions Valencia homeowners actually ask us, answered the way we’d answer them standing in your kitchen.

Aerotermia Basics
& Savings

What exactly is aerotermia?

Aerotermia is heating, cooling and hot water produced by an air-to-water heat pump. The outdoor unit extracts heat from the air — even on a cool night there is plenty — and transfers it into water that feeds your underfloor heating, radiators or fan coils and a hot water cylinder. It runs on electricity but moves far more heat than it consumes.

+

How much cheaper is aerotermia to run than gas, butano or electric heating?

A modern unit typically delivers three to four kilowatt-hours of heat for each kilowatt-hour of electricity, while a boiler can never give you more energy than the fuel it burns. The exact saving depends on your tariff and what you heat with today — butano and resistive electric users usually see the biggest difference. We calculate a realistic estimate for your home during the free survey.

+

Can the same system cool the house in summer?

Yes — most air-to-water heat pumps reverse in summer and circulate chilled water. With fan coils you get genuine air conditioning; with underfloor circuits you get gentle floor cooling that takes the edge off Valencia’s humid August. We design the emitters with both seasons in mind.

+

Will the outdoor unit bother us — or the neighbours — at night?

Modern units are rated at conversation-level sound, and most run even quieter overnight when demand is low. We still treat placement seriously: away from bedroom windows and neighbouring terraces, on anti-vibration mounts, with night-mode settings enabled at commissioning. Done properly, the fridge in your kitchen is louder.

+

How long should an aerotermia system last?

A well-installed, well-maintained system typically runs 15 years or more — often longer for the hydraulic components. Correct sizing matters: a unit that short-cycles because it is too big wears out sooner. That is exactly why we size from a survey, not from a catalogue.

+

Which heat pump brands do you install?

We install and service all major aerotermia brands, including Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, LG, Vaillant, Ariston and Baxi. We are not tied to any single manufacturer, so we compare options honestly and recommend what fits your home and budget — not what is sitting in a warehouse.

Installation, Hot Water & Service

The practical details homeowners ask about once the basics make sense.

Installation & Your Home

I live in a flat — where does the outdoor unit go?

Balconies, terraces and approved wall or roof positions all work. In apartment buildings the comunidad usually has a say over the façade, so we help you choose a compliant spot and provide the unit’s specifications and sound data for your administrator before installation day.

Will my electrical installation cope with a heat pump?

Most modern supplies do. A heat pump needs its own dedicated circuit with the right protections, and occasionally an older panel needs upgrading or the contracted power adjusting. Our electrician checks this during the survey, and any electrical work needed is written into the same fixed quote.

Will we be left without heating or hot water during the changeover?

No — we plan the switch so the old system keeps working until the new one is ready to take over. Most installations run a few days from start to commissioning, but in a typical swap you are without hot water for less than one working day, and we warn you in advance of exactly when.

Radiators, fan coils or underfloor heating — which should I choose?

Heat pumps love low water temperatures, so underfloor heating is the most efficient partner, fan coils add fast response plus summer cooling, and existing radiators can often stay if they have enough surface area. Many homes end up with a mix — we model each room and show you the options with their trade-offs.

Can a heat pump really cover all our hot water (ACS)?

Yes. The system heats a dedicated ACS cylinder sized to your household — how many showers, at what times, whether there is a bathtub. Get the cylinder right and you never think about hot water again; that sizing conversation is a standard part of our survey.

Service, Grants & Guarantees

What maintenance does aerotermia need?

Far less than a gas boiler — there is no combustion, no flue and no annual gas inspection. What it does appreciate is a yearly check: water pressure, filters, the refrigerant circuit and a clean outdoor coil. We offer a simple annual plan that keeps efficiency high and your warranty valid.

Are there grants for aerotermia at the moment?

Support has come in waves — EU Next Generation funding rounds, regional programmes in the Valencian Community and municipal tax discounts such as IBI reductions in some towns. Programmes open and close throughout the year, so we check exactly what is live when we prepare your quote rather than promising figures on a website.

Do you cover my town, or just Valencia city?

Both. We are based in Torrent and work across Valencia city and the surrounding towns — Mislata, Xirivella, Paterna, Burjassot, Alboraya, Aldaia and well beyond, out to villa areas like l’Eliana and Bétera. If you are anywhere in the Valencia area, send your location on WhatsApp and we will confirm straight away.

Can the whole process be handled in English?

Yes — survey, quote, contract, installation day and after-sales support all happen in English if you prefer, and in Spanish where it helps, for example when dealing with your comunidad or utility company. Many of our clients are expats who want to understand every line before signing.

What does your warranty cover?

Every completed installation carries our 2-year written workmanship warranty, covering the quality of the installation itself — pipework, mounting, electrical connection and commissioning. The heat pump hardware additionally carries its own manufacturer guarantee, which we register for you at handover.
